I went Uber driving last Friday, and early evening that day, I picked up a couple. Let's hide them as Mr. & Mrs. Darcy. What seemed to be a very pleasant 'husband and wife conversation' while in an Uber ride going to dinner, turned sour. As their backseat conversation progressed, it became obvious to me that they were arguing about their ex-husband and ex-wife. At the end of the ride, Mr. Darcy said thank you, and he apologized that I have to hear their domestic issues. As Mrs. Darcy stepped out of my car, after she said thanks, she told be to "get married but don't get divorced". 41% of first time marriages in America end up in divorce and the number goes higher on second and third marriages where 65% and 73% end up in divorce consecutively. Couples who stayed in their marriage through many many years has their love for each other put to a lot of tests. They went through doubts, depressions, disagreements, despair, disappointments, but they avoided divorce because they made some tough choices. Not easy, but inconvenient choices. Love is not a feeling, it is a "choice". You could either choose to love or not to love. Whenever we speak about love, our go to chapter in the Bible is 1 Corinthians 13, if we breakdown verse 7 of this chapter, you will be able to pull out 4 choices for a lasting love. First of all, we have to Extend Grace when their faults irritates us, when their words and actions hurts us, and when they sin. We must express faith and always expects the best and endure the worst. Hear more of it here!
