CHURCH PLANTING & GROWING
The Great and Ultimate Command
The church fully binds itself to the Great Commission as our perpetual obedience to the Lord Jesus. As such, we are committed to make disciples to save the lost, plant churches to share the gospel and send disciples to do the same (Matthew 28:19-20).
Building Communities
Building relationships is key to sharing the message of Christ. The church through the BOE shall tirelessly find ways and formulate plans and programs through, but not limited to, sports, employment, livelihood, education, trainings, seminars and senior care as a way to create opportunities to connect with people and help build communities and lead them to start their personal relationships with Jesus. (Colossians 4:5, Philippians 2:4)
Saving the Lost
Jesus does not want anyone to perish, on the other hand He wants everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Part of our decision to follow Jesus is to fish for men (Matthew 4:19). We are His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20). Obediently, the Church must endlessly witness and minister to all who are yet to come to know Christ in all parts of the world as the Holy Spirit leads (Acts 1:8). The BOE shall carry on with ways that are proven effective in advancing the message of Salvation through Jesus. Furthermore, the BOE shall innovate strategies while taking advantage of the tools and platforms, such as but not limited to, social, print & broadcast media that are available in this modern generation to spread the saving grace of the Lord.
Making Disciples
During the 3 years of the Lord Jesus’ ministry here on earth, what He essentially did was to make disciples. 2,000 years later, the work of those who follows Him remains unchanged. The Church, through the BOE shall progressively develop its capabilities to evangelize, enroll, equip, entrust disciples that will continue what Jesus started. Continuous trainings of new converts, re-training of current workers and advance trainings for leaders shall become permanent activities of the Church either on-site or off-site (Matthew 11:1).
Sending Disciples
When Jesus sent out His 12 disciples He said, that the work is plenty but the workers are few. He further told them that they should expect to be like sheep in a crowd of wolves (Matthew 10:5). In another occasion when Jesus sent out the 72, He reminded them of the same thing (Luke 10:3). Candidly, sending disciples to carry out the task that the Lord entrusted to us is not just simply packing up our bags and go. It clearly requires preparation. The Church, through the BOE must create programs that will prepare those who embraced the joyful and rewarding task of going to wherever the Holy Spirit may lead them to bring the good news of hope through Christ.
Starting Churches
Faith comes from hearing the message of God (Romans 10:17). So if nobody speaks out for God, how can they hear and believe God? The early church of Christ started after the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. Peter addressed the crowd calling for everyone to repent, and on that instance alone, about three thousand were added to their number (Acts 2:38, 41). The Church, through the BOE, shall draw strategies and formulate policies that will govern our ‘church planting’ endeavors. The BOE must relentlessly sharpen the Church’s effectiveness in the area of networking to enable sharing of experiences, resources and capabilities while pursuing the common goal of expanding the Lord’s kingdom.
Installing Ministers
Paul went on missionary journeys planting churches. Joined by Barnabas, they appointed elders for each church, and through prayer & fasting, committed them to the Lord (Acts 14:23). The Church, through the BOE, shall recruit, train, certify, license or ordain qualified ministers to serve and lead churches. The BOE shall pray for and find ways on how to support the ministers that the Church installed to those churches that they planted.
Supporting Church Growth
On Paul’s succeeding journeys, he supported the growth of churches in various ways, and he helped strengthened the disciples (Acts 18:23). The Church, through the BOE, shall outline its rules and guidelines as to how Agape Church of San Diego could support its daughter churches like a mother weaning her new born.
Giving Back to the Kingdom
Even in the midst of severe trial, the churches in Macedonia were overflowing with joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. They pleaded with urgency to share on the privilege of serving the Lord’s people by giving back what Paul described to be more than what he expected of them
(2 Corinthians 8:1-9). When a church has grown enough to give back to the works for the kingdom, they must, out of joy, without reluctance, give back with a cheerful heart (2 Corinthians 9:7). The Church, through the BOE, shall come up with very fair, clear, honest and transparent conditions as to how the daughter churches should give back to Agape Church of San Diego to replenish its Mission Fund in order to sustain its Church Planting & Growing activities.
Missions Fund
The church must build up its “Missions Fund” from the tithes & offerings of its members, and other sources such as donations from generous benefactors.
This fund must be prudently managed with full transparency. Accomplishments derived from this fund must be reported to the BOE, the Church and to the benefactors on a regular basis.
This fund shall be allocated as follows:
Ten percent (10%) for Building Communities
Twenty percent (20%) for Saving the Lost
Twenty percent (20%) for Making Disciples
Twenty percent (20%) for Sending Disciples
Twenty percent (20%) for Starting Churches
Ten percent (10%) for Supporting Church Growth
